If you landed here, it’s probably because your Spotify.app in macOS went mute and only says «Can’t play the current song». And you want to fix it.
From my experience during the past weeks, this error occurs without any specific, underlaying or obvious issues (such as Spotify needs a software update, no or bad internet connection, or alike) – it was almost every time somehow related Audio driver issues in macOS, which I didn’t notice until I wanted to play some music in Spotify .
The only solution I found to fix the Spotify error:
completely restart your Mac.
Only restarting the Spotify app (multiple times) did not help, but only made the issue worse – almost my whole macOS hanging / lagging.
